Will selected to represent the SW at Swimming Nationals

Following the regional swimming trials held in Dorset earlier this month, we are thrilled to learn that Will has been selected to represent the South West at the ISA Swimming National Championships.

He is looking forward to competing in the Olympic Stadium pool in London’s Aquatic Centre on 1 December – and we will all be rooting for him!

He is pictured here with team mates Victor and Arlo – the smiles say it all!

New toddler group for mid Cornwall

We are delighted to be re-starting our toddler group at our new site in Lanlivery.

Commencing in the New Year, Roselyon Toddler Group is open to everyone, not just families of the school.

Everyone will be welcome to join us for a social session of chat and play, hosted by our qualified staff.

The group will meet every Thursday in term time from 930am to 1130am in the school hall at Roselyon.

We have plenty of free parking and our site is fully accessible. The cost is just £2 a family, to include snacks and drinks.

Booking is advised; please call Lisa our School Secretary on 01726 812110.

We look forward to seeing you!

St Austell Festival winners

Congratulations to all the children who entered this year’s St Austell Festival of Music and Speech.

In the younger age groups, Olivia took second place and Jenson third, both with very courageous performances.

In Prep III (pictured here), Crystal took first place and Ethan was placed third. James and Esme also performed very strongly. Crystal went on to win the overall  first place among all Year 3 entrants, which is a fantastic achievement – and secured her a second trophy!

In Prep IV, Amelia took a third place while Sophia and Dylan gave great performances.

In Prep V, Dylan took first place and Mimi was placed second.

Finally, in Prep VI, Ben came third against stiff competition. Lily and Sheba performed admirably too.

We are very proud of all of you!

Primary Maths Challenge

Congratulations to the seven mathematicians who took part in the Primary Maths Challenge. This is an event which is organised by The Mathematical Association and is designed to challenge both the children’s mathematical and logical thinking. Over 68,000 pupils from almost 1700 schools took part.

A special mention to Dylan, who was a Gold Award winner and our Best in School.

Well done to Team Roselyon!

Fencing success in the Autumn term

Our fencing coach Mr Gale was delighted with the performance of our fencing team following the Buckland Handicap Fencing Competition in Plymouth. He reported that Jake (Prep 6) placed a very well earned 5th place in the under 10s foil, while Amelia (Prep 4) was hot on his heels with a 6th place and the accolade of Best Girl.

Also during the Autumn half-term holiday, Arlo (Prep 6) was invited to watch the England v Russia International at the Lansdowne Club in London. Arlo was selected for this as he has been recognised as a potential future international level fencer. He along with brother Alfie were thrilled to meet with some of the country’s top fencing talent.

Not to be outdone, Lyonhearts, our open and adult fencing group, held their monthly ‘Fight Night’ and Roselyon parent Johan Steyn (parent of Ewan in Prep 5) won the coveted ‘Sword of Power’! The group meets on the first Friday evening of the month at Bodmin Leisure Centre.
