We might only be a small prep school in Cornwall, but we have some future sporting champions among our children!
Roselyon is delighted to report that at the Leon Paul Junior Series Cornwall tournament in Truro last weekend, our fencing team achieved fantastic success.
In the U11 Boys Foil, congratulations go to Arlo who took the Gold Medal. His achievement was matched by Amelia in the U9 Girls Foil, also taking home a Gold Medal.
The medals did not stop there – Lily and Isla both took home Silver medals, while Bronze medals were claimed by Lola and Mini.
This was a brilliant day of fencing by all of our competitors – and certainly put Roselyon School on the map.

We are pleased to share that Victor recorded TWO personal bests at Plymouth Leander Gala and came 4th in his heat. With over 550 swimmers competing, this was a fantastic achievement.
Following the regional swimming trials held in Dorset earlier this month, we are thrilled to learn that Will has been selected to represent the South West at the ISA Swimming National Championships.
He is looking forward to competing in the Olympic Stadium pool in London’s Aquatic Centre on 1 December – and we will all be rooting for him!
He is pictured here with team mates Victor and Arlo – the smiles say it all!
Well done to our swimmers in Prep 3 and 4 who represented the school at the Mid Cornwall Sports Network swimming gala in Newquay last Friday. You were all a credit to the school!
Well done to the 12 runners who represented Roselyon at Par Track in the second Cross Country Race of this season.
Undaunted by the rain and wind, all of our runners did us proud.
Special mentions to Isla, who came 21st, Grace at 28th and Evie, at 29th.
Our fencing coach Mr Gale was delighted with the performance of our fencing team following the Buckland Handicap Fencing Competition in Plymouth. He reported that Jake (Prep 6) placed a very well earned 5th place in the under 10s foil, while Amelia (Prep 4) was hot on his heels with a 6th place and the accolade of Best Girl.
Also during the Autumn half-term holiday, Arlo (Prep 6) was invited to watch the England v Russia International at the Lansdowne Club in London. Arlo was selected for this as he has been recognised as a potential future international level fencer. He along with brother Alfie were thrilled to meet with some of the country’s top fencing talent.
Not to be outdone, Lyonhearts, our open and adult fencing group, held their monthly ‘Fight Night’ and Roselyon parent Johan Steyn (parent of Ewan in Prep 5) won the coveted ‘Sword of Power’! The group meets on the first Friday evening of the month at Bodmin Leisure Centre.
Thirteen children from Roselyon took part in the British Schools Team Chapmionships last weekend and all gave an excellent account of themselves. We are very proud of Billy, Arlo and Alfie who came home with bronze medals, even though they have another year in the same age group. Congratulations!
Grace has made us all proud by winning a bronze medal in the South West Regional British Youth Qualifiers for Fencing. This entitles her to represent the South West in the U12 Girls’ Foil British Youth Chamionships in Sheffield in April. We are especially proud of Grace because she only started fencing last summer. Congratulations and good luck!
